Bobble Babble: John Lackey pitched for the Angels from 2002 to 2009. He came up through the Angels’ system and quickly became a key piece of their rotation. He’s best remembered for his 2002 rookie season, when he helped lead the team to its first and only World Series title, and for his fiery competitiveness on the mound. He was, in fact, the starter for game seven of the World Series, a rare honor for a rookie. Lackey grew into the club’s ace during the mid-2000s, known for durability, command, and his “bulldog” mentality. In 2010 he ended up in Boston where he would help the Red Sox win their own World Series championship just a couple years later. He ended his career with the Cubs in 2017.
