Bobble Babble: Joe Saunders was drafted by the Angels in the first round (12th overall) of the 2002 MLB Draft out of Virginia Tech. He made his MLB debut on August 16th, 2005, with the then-Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Saunders spent parts of the next few years shuttling between Triple-A and the big-league rotation before earning a permanent spot. He was known for being a left-handed starting pitcher with solid command, good durability, and a calm, even-keeled mound presence. Saunders was traded to the Diamondbacks as part of a package deal in 2010 where he stayed for the next couple years. In 2012 he was traded to Baltimore, and the following year he ended up in Seattle. In 2014 he pitched for the Rangers, was released mid-season, and then concluded the year (and his career) in the Orioles organization.
