Bobble Babble: Fans already loved bobbleheads, but in the 2010s promotions teams needed something new.  Garden gnomes felt like a fresh idea while still being an obvious collectible giveaway. Industry writeups from that period show gnomes moved from a handful of clubs to more than a dozen teams in just a couple seasons.  Gnomes were inexpensive to produce at scale, easy to brand (player beards, jerseys, team hats translate well into a little statue), and stood out in promotion calendars.  The Angels were at the early end of this trend with this 2011 giveaway, and later in 2014 with Mike Trout, Jered Weaver, and Albert Pujols gnomes.  But not all bobbleheads are gnomes, and not all gnomes are bobbleheads.  This Angels gnome, and the list below, are confirmed to be a combination of the two things. Also noteworthy is that this gnome was named “Hale O’Fann” as a result of a “Gname the Gnome” contest. Mark Cova out of Rancho Cucamonga submitted the winning entry.
