Bobble Babble: Garrett Richards made his MLB debut on August 10th, 2011, against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. He spent the next two seasons splitting time between the bullpen and starting rotation while refining his command. By 2014, he was ready to break out. He posted a 13-4 record this season with a 2.61 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. Later that year while covering first base on a ground ball at Fenway Park, Richards’s left knee gave out as he landed awkwardly on the bag. He collapsed immediately and was carted off the field, later diagnosed with a torn patellar tendon. The injury required surgery and ended his season instantly.
