Bobble Babble: The Rally Monkey was born on June 6th, 2000 at Angel Stadium. The team’s video crew played a clip from the movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective showing a jumping monkey to energize fans during a late-inning rally, and it worked. The Angels came back to win, and the Rally Monkey immediately became a superstition and an unofficial mascot. Fast forward twenty-five years to the end of the 2025 season. Over this time the Angels have enjoyed a winning record of .569 on bobblehead nights. This, however, has not been the case with Rally Monkey-related giveaways. The Angels’ record on themed monkey giveaway nights has been .318. With as many problems as the Angels have had lately, perhaps it is time they consider retiring the monkey.
