Phillies Bobble Babble: Phillies Bobble Babble: Between 2001 and 2025, the Phils have given out 120 unique bobbleheads. They were the 15th MLB team to incorporate bobbleheads into their promotional schedule.
- The Phillies have maintained a fairly balanced approach to bobblehead giveaways throughout the years with an average of 4.8 released per year (including exclusives and variants).
- 26 of the Phillies’ 120 bobblehead giveaways (21.7%) were variations of another release. This includes bobbleheads with different uniforms, batting stances, color schemes, props, and/or text.
- From 2001 to 2025, the Phils posted a cumulative record of 2,050-1,897, reflecting a winning percentage of .519. On bobblehead giveaway nights the club’s record actually drops to .506 (40-39).
- The average attendance from 2001 to 2025 was 33,373 fans per home game. On bobblehead giveaway nights specifically, the Phils have averaged 35,732 fans in attendance. The capacity of Veterans Stadium was 62,382 (2001 to 2003), and the capacity of Citizens Bank Park (2004 through current) is around 41,000.
- Of the 120 Phillies bobbleheads, 73 of them were athletes and four were coaches. Of the 73, 55 of them were on the roster at the time and 18 were legacy players. Larry Bowa was immortalized as both a player and a manager.
- The mix of players has been 46.2% infield, 10.3% outfield, and 43.6% battery.
- A full 19.2% of the Phillies’ bobblehead portfolio are mascots. They arguably have the most popular mascot in the league with the Phillie Phanatic, but the Phils have also given away bobbleheads for Phoebe, the Phanatic’s mother, and of Phil and Phillis, the organization’s preceding mascots.
- They have done three announcer bobbleheads, and one incredibly rare one of the team’s owner.
- The other 16 Phillies bobblehead giveaways were “non-players”. This would include Spider-Man, Frank Sinatra, Captain Picard, Scooby Doo, Miles Teller, Hulk, and Billy Joel among others. They have also done a really nice series of Peanuts characters in recent years.
- As of the end of the 2025 season, the least attended Phillies bobblehead giveaway was the “Band Night” Phanatic on September 15th, 2016 with 15,247 (this does not consider the Schroeder from Peanuts on May 4th, 2001 when crowds were still limited). The highest attended was the “1980 World Champ” Mike Schmidt on September 1st, 2003 with 61,068.
- The Phillies’ giveaways tend to favor weekdays over weekends. 59.8% of their bobblehead SGAs have occurred Monday through Thursday with Tuesday being the most popular day overall.
- Toyota has sponsored more Phillies bobbleheads than any other organization.
- The Washington Nationals have been their most common bobblehead night opponent with nine matchups (the Phils have won seven of these games).
