Diamondback Bobble Babble: Between 2001 and 2025, the D-Backs hosted 104 bobblehead giveaway events, featuring a total of 128 unique bobbleheads. They were the 24th MLB team to incorporate bobbleheads into their promotional schedule.
- From 2001 to 2025, the Diamondbacks posted a cumulative record of 1,917-2,031, reflecting a winning percentage of .486. On bobblehead giveaway nights the club’s record dramatically improves to .596 (56-38).
- The average attendance during this timeframe was 26,100 fans per home game. On bobblehead giveaway nights specifically, the Diamondbacks average jumps almost ten thousand fans to 36,023. Chase Field holds just over 48,000 people.
- Saturday is bobblehead day in Phoenix. 85.1% of all of their bobblehead giveaways have taken place on this day. Friday and Sunday have seen an even split between the unclaimed balance. The Diamondbacks have never given out a bobblehead on a weekday.
- Of the 128 D-Back bobbleheads:
- 90 of them were athletes. Of those, 87 of them were on the Diamondbacks’ roster at the time and three were legacy players.
- Four of them were managers or coaches, two of them were announcers, and one was an executive. Bob Brenly was featured as both a manager and later as an announcer.
- Four of them were of the D-Backs’ mascot, D. Baxter, and only one was a member of the “Legends Race” (which is odd since the race includes four participants).
- Three of them of them were characters from television or other media (Hello Kitty and Game of Thrones), and the last two were simply “other” bobbleheads (a zombie and a sugar skull).
- The Diamondbacks’ marketing team does not seem to show much favoritism to any one position on the field. 40% of the athlete bobbleheads were infielders, 23.3% were outfielders, and 36.7% were members of the battery. Of the infielders, 30.6% primarily played first base, 22.2% played second base, 30.6% played third base, and 16.7% were shortstops. But pitchers outnumbered catchers almost six-to-one.
- Of the 128 Diamondback bobbleheads, 117 were handed out ahead of a game, six were season ticket holder or “Advantage Member” exclusives, four were available to their Kid’s Club, and one “gold-dipped” variant was part of a state-wide scavenger hunt.
- As of the end of the 2025 season, the least attended D-Backs bobblehead giveaway was the Greg Schulte SGA on July 10th, 2010, with 21,627 fans (please note that this does not include the intentionally limited crowds of 2021). The highest attended was the Randy Johnson offering on June 9th, 2007, with 49,836 (perhaps assisted by a rare interleague weekend matchup with the Boston Red Sox).
- Cox has sponsored the most Diamondback bobbleheads with seven. Cox has also sponsored all but one of their Star Wars Day giveaways.
- The San Diego Padres have been their most common bobblehead night opponent with 14 matchups.
