Bobble Babble: This bobblehead was given to fans attending “Tony Hawk Night”, where a portion of the proceeds from the event benefited the Tony Hawk Foundation. Hawk’s Foundation was established in 2002 to address underserved communities that lacked safe, public skateparks. In 2020 the organization announced a name change from the Tony Hawk Foundation to The Skatepark Project, to better reflect its mission of building and activating skateparks (rather than centering on the founder’s name). While the name changed, the core focus remains the same: helping communities build inclusive, quality skateparks and creating access for youth. It’s also worth noting here that this Tony Hawk bobblehead marks a shift in the Padre’s marketing efforts from athlete-oriented figures to more “non-player” offerings. Over the next decade, only 12 of 26 (46.2%) of the SGA bobbleheads were actual Padres. The balance were zombies, Marvel characters, Sandlot kids, Peanuts characters, Sugar Skulls, Scooby-Doo, and more.
