Bobble Babble: Nolan Ryan’s years with the California Angels (1972–1979) were the period that truly made him a legend, when his overpowering fastball, no-hitters, and strikeout totals began to define his Hall of Fame career.  He was traded to the Angels on December 10th, 1971 from the Mets along with three other players for shortstop Jim Fregosi.  Ryan, who had struggled with control in New York, found both opportunity and consistency in Anaheim.  In his time in the Angels, he posted a 138-121 record with a 3.07 ERA and 2,416 strikeouts.  He threw 156 complete games, 40 shutouts, and four no-hitters.
