Bobble Babble: The Angels signed him after he went undrafted out of Eastern Michigan University in 2008. He quietly worked his way through the minors for five seasons before making his MLB debut on September 20, 2013, against the Seattle Mariners where he threw five shutout innings and earned the win. But his true breakout came the following year where he achieved a 16-4 record, a 3.04 ERA, and a WHIP of 1.07. Shoemaker finished second in Rookie of the Year votes that season behind José Abreu. He did, however, win the prestigious “Bobblehead Beard of the Year” by the Bobblehead Syndicate. Well played, Shoemaker.
